Digital Storytelling

My Video!
Digital storytelling is a wonderful tool that can be used in the classroom for whichever subject. A good way of using digital storytelling is teaching ESL vocabulary. An example of this is using the word “moon” in English and showing it in Spanish, “luna”. Also a visual picture will be attached to make the connection of the word and image. Another way digital storytelling can be used is by having students create a review of a novel they are reading in literature circles. They would have to record themselves giving the review of the book after reading it. In Math, digital storytelling can be used to show geometry and tessellations in nature. Students could make a movie of the nature scenes and creating an audio that describes the type of shapes in the movie. An example of this is a tessellation of a honey comb, students could say, “Honey comb has the geometric shape of hexagon”.  These are just a few examples but there are endless possibilities.

Glogster/Word Clouds

Poster
Glogster

Word Cloud
I really enjoyed using Glogster! It was a bit confusing at first because of all the options they offer, but after 15 minutes of playing around with it, I figured how to use it. The Word Cloud was amazing. It was very easy to use and loved the results. I can definitely use Glogster in the classroom for students to make a poster of an advertisement or science project. The appropriate age group for Glogster would be 4th grade and up. Word cloud can be used for many things in the classroom. It can definitely be used in Language Arts by writing a poem and associating it with an image to represent it. Word Cloud would be appropriate for 3rd grade and up. Once you are able to maneuver in Glogster and Word Cloud, it can be easier than going to Paint and Word. Also, Glogster has a lot more options to create a poster than Paint and Word.

Manipulation Software Programs

I was able to make this picture through Microsoft Paint. It didn't have a variety of creating interesting pictures like Picnik and Pizap, but I was able to add hearts and a thinking bubble.
I created this image using the techniques of Pizap. Pizap was really easy to use and had many ideas to make pictures creative. I uploaded a photo, then I chose a background and added text.

I used Picnik to create this image. I enjoyed using Picnik because it was easy to create this photo. I was able to crop, auto fix the photo, add a border and stickers. Then I added a text. Picnik was my favorite of all three.

Technology

Technology is wonderful, especially if it can be incorporated in the classroom. Not only will it keep students entertained, but the teacher as well!
